If we went back 16 years and talked to the seven-year-old version of me, I bet she would say, “When I grow up, I want to be a vegetarian.” Now, that was because I didn’t know the difference between “vegetarian” and “Veterinarian,” but I promise I meant I wanted to be a Veterinarian. I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of the never-ending games of fetch I played with my childhood dog, Snickers.
I soon realized being a Veterinarian is a hard job. It is full of heartache and despair. I knew my heart wasn’t strong enough for that career path so, while in college at Weber State University, I set my sights on public relations and advertising. The revelation came to me while I was looking at my Twitter feed. I started to notice the different types of accounts I followed. Some were close friends but others were businesses. I remember literally feeling a spark go off in my brain. Someone had to be running those accounts and that someone could be me. At the time I found out, I also had to complete an internship to graduate. I did a quick Google search; I wanted to merge my first love with my new love so I searched “social media animal internship.” It must have been fate because I found a listing for a local animal shelter looking for a social media intern. My internship grew my love for social media and animals. I was really making a difference in the lives of so many animals.
After graduation, I knew what path I wanted to take. Fate was on my side again because, while looking through Facebook, I came across an ad for a social media coordinator at Progrexion. I read the job description and decided to apply. Needless to say, it all worked out because I am here!
During my last semester in college, my professor asked me what I wanted after graduation. I replied, “I just want to be happy.” Everything I have done thus far in life has been towards my goal of simply being happy. It’s a great feeling to come to work everyday at a job that I love. I love being surrounded by passionate, smart, hard-working people. Since my very first day, I have gotten the impression that everyone at Progrexion wants the best for their coworkers. I can’t wait to see where this path takes me.
